Egg in a Nest

Ingredients required for Egg in a Nest


  • 8 slices of crusty italian bread
  • 2 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil
  • 8 free range egss
  • salt and pepper




  • Cut a 4 cm (1.5in) hole in each of the slices of bread
  • Brush one side of each slice of bread with olive oil
  • Place the bread, oil-side down, in a frying pan on medium heat
  • Break an egg into the hole of each slice of bread. Remember to ask for assistance if you need help with the pan
  • Once the egg starts to set, brush on a little oil and turn to cook on the other side of the bread and complete the cooking of the egg
  • Sprinkle with salt and pepper and you are finished. An easy way to enjoy breakfast


Note: It is important that the bread is thick. Use butter in the pan to add flavour
